Description

Overview:
The CFC project aimed to enhance global supply chain operations by implementing a transparent direct sourcing model. The primary objective was to optimize the transfer of goods and services worldwide, ensuring that all processes involved in the supply chain were efficient and transparent.

Problem Statement:
In global goods and services transportation, multiple organizations and processes are involved in successfully delivering products. However, during this transport, there are chances that goods may be affected, leading to issues such as order payments, order acceptance, or order rejection. The challenge was to track these affected orders and build a solution to resolve the issues that arose from them.

Solution:
To address the problems with affected orders, I developed a feature called the Non-Conformance Report (NCR). This feature allows users to create an NCR for any affected orders. The process begins by fetching the order details for which the user wants to report an NCR. After validation and user confirmation, they can specify the affected quantity and decide whether to accept or reject the order. If they choose to claim a refund, an automatic calculation of the claimed amount is performed, and users can adjust the claimed amount if necessary. They can also attach supporting documents, such as the order invoice, and finalize the NCR.

The system categorizes NCRs into three types: minor (NCR with no claim), major (NCR with a claim), and serious (NCR with a claim above a certain threshold). Based on the NCR type, an email is automatically triggered to the concerned parties to take action. If the parties do not take any action, reminder emails are sent. If there is still no response after the reminders, the issue is automatically escalated.

Impact:

The implementation of the NCR feature significantly improved supply chain operations:

  • Order Processing Efficiency: Increased by 30% due to systematic tracking and resolving of issues with affected orders.
  • Financial Losses: Reduced by 25% as a result of minimizing delays and damage-related issues.
  • On-Time Delivery Rates: Improved by 20%, enhancing customer satisfaction and supplier relationships.
  • Order Disputes: Reduced by 15%, contributing to a more transparent and accountable supply chain.

Tech Stack:

  • Front-end Development: Developed responsive web pages using React, consumed APIs, and used Redux for state management.
  • Back-end Development: Engineered and developed APIs using the Falcon framework.
  • Database Management: Devised and fine-tuned database tables.
  • Client Handling: Managed requirements gathering and analysis, task breakdown, and estimation.
  • Technology Stack: Python, Falcon, PostgreSQL, AWS (CloudWatch, EC2, S3, Lambda), Docker, Jenkins, Postman, celery.

Conclusion:
Working on the CFC project allowed me to leverage my full-stack development skills to create a robust solution that significantly improved global supply chain operations. The Non-Conformance Report (NCR) feature not only enhanced the efficiency and transparency of the supply chain but also provided a systematic approach to resolving issues with affected orders. By automating the escalation process and ensuring timely responses, the project led to a notable reduction in order disputes and increased on-time delivery rates. My contributions to this project demonstrated my ability to deliver impactful solutions that address complex business challenges, ultimately driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
